Alphabet Activities: Brush Away the ABC Germs and Song

Our Playful Preschool Series  theme this week is healthy habits. We have featured a few preschool songs in this series including “I’m a Hungry Spider” and “The Leaves of of the Trees”.  This week we created a preschool song all about brushing your teeth!  Plus, we have a fun alphabet activity for preschoolers to practice brushing away germs.

Why We Chose This Activity

My kids have been a bit careless lately when it comes to brushing their teeth.  I knew when the Playful Preschool team chose to do healthy habits this week that I wanted to focusing on dental health.

We have come up with an activity that practices letter identification and learning about the importance of proper teeth brushing.  We also have a fun song to sing while playing.

Brush Away the Alphabet Germs Activity

Materials Needed: 2 white ice cube trays, dry erase marker, craft stick, small piece of white felt and glue

1.  The ice cube trays represent the teeth.  With a dry erase marker, write a letter of the alphabet on each “tooth”.

2.  Create a toothbrush by gluing a small piece of white felt onto the top of the craft stick.

Time to play!  Tell your child that the teeth are covered in alphabet germs and that it is their job to brush away the germs.  Sing the song below as you play.

Teeth Song

This is also a fun song to sing when brushing your teeth.

“I’ve Got All These Teeth In My Mouth”

to the tune “He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands”

I’ve got all these teeth in my mouth.

I’ve got all these teeth in my mouth.

I’ve got all these teeth in my mouth.

I’m going to brush them everyday.

I’m going to brush the top teeth in my mouth.

I’m going to brush the bottom teeth in my mouth.

I’m going to remember to brush in front and in back.

I’m going to brush them everyday.

You can listen to the song in the video below.

Enjoy singing this preschool song and playing brush away the germs over and over to help little ones learn about dental health.
