Family Dinner Book Club: Little House on the Prairie
The Book
Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
The Ingalls family is packing up the covered wagon and leaving Wisconsin. Travel along on their journey as they settle into a new home and start a farm. Pioneer life can be tough, but the Ingalls family always faces the challenges together.
Table Topics
I’m pleased to share six conversation starters to get your dinner book club rolling. Just click on this link (Little House on the Prairie Conversation Starters) for a one page PDF file that you can print and then cut apart. Use the cards on your chosen dinner night. You, of course, don’t have to use all of them or you may even have some other discussion points that developed while you were reading. These are just meant to be a guide. Happy talking!
- Would you have liked to have been a pioneer? Why or why not?
- If you had to move across the country in a covered wagon and could only take important items, what would you take?
- What are some of things that Laura did for fun? How do those things compare to the things you do for fun?
- How is Christmas in Little House on the Prairie like your Christmas traditions? How is it different?
- Pa respected the Osage Indians. What were some of the ways he showed respect?
- Pa fiddle music was important to the Ingalls family. What type of music is important to your family?
