Are you learning about the midwest region of the United States? Our Booking Across the USA series is featuring authors and illustrators from each state.  This is part 2 of 5 in our regional spotlights.

This series is a fun way to learn more about the people of each state and specifically those who have contributed to the world of children’s literature.

Here are the featured authors and illustrators from the midwestern states!

Meet authors and illustrators from the midwest in our Booking Across the USA project.

Kansas

Meet Brad Sneed in KC Edventures post.  There is even a fun printable for exploring the non-fiction section of the library.

Michigan

Buggy & Buddy highlight one of my favorite authors, Patricia Polacco.  You will find a beautiful family tree craft for kids to compliment Polacco’s book, The Keeping Quilt.

Minnesota

Wise Owl Factory shares lots of goodies related to Betsy Bowen.  You can even see a picture of the studio where she works.

Missouri

Did you know that Maya Angelou wrote several children’s books?  Inspiration Laboratories highlights her life and shares a beautiful weaving project.

Ohio

Something 2 Offer tells us all about Aileen Stewart.

North Dakota

Nebraska

Leah Peterson is a native Nebraskan.  She wrote her first book 2011 called [easyazon_link identifier=”1612250688″ locale=”US” tag=”groboobyboo-20″]An Apple for Dapple.[/easyazon_link]  It is a real life story of her daughter and her daughter’s special pony.  Peterson enjoys traveling throughout Nebraska talking about her book and agriculture.

Enjoy making an apple pie after reading the story!

South Dakota

Living Montessori Now shines the spotlight on Laura Ingalls Wilder and includes lots of resources to use with her books.

Wisconsin

Another favorite author is Lois Ehlert.  Brain Power Boy tells us all about her and shares a fun spots activity.

Join us tomorrow for part two of the series when we spotlight the southeast region.
