Eleanor Coerr wrote many books during her lifetime.  She was born in Canada and lived in various places including Nevada.

Her books included Sadako, Josefina Story Quilt, Buffalo Bill and the Pony Express.  She even wrote a book about Nevada called S is for Silver: A Nevada Alphabet.

You can learn about the United States in some of her stories.  Read about the California gold rush in Chang’s Paper Pony. Or travel in a covered wagon in 1850 on a journey to California in Josefina Story Quilt.

But, if you really are seeking that Nevada connection, check out S is for Silver: A Nevada Alphabet.  After reading the book, have your child pick one topic from the story to explore further.  He can create a book all about the chosen topic!
