If you follow Growing Book by Book on Facebook, you’ve seen daily (Monday-Friday) posts about Picture Book of the Day. Today, I thought I’d share a behind the scenes look at Picture Book of the Day and introduce you to the 15 talented bloggers from around the world who make this project happen!

Picture Book of the Day was created by Bethany from No Twiddle Twaddle. Not only did she come up with the idea but, she also assembled a great group of people to work together on the project.  Bethany recently had to step down from leading the group to pursue some new growing endeavors. She asked me to take over for her and I was thrilled to carry the torch. Each day, a different blogger selects a high-quality picture book to showcase.  All the participating bloggers then share the recommendation on their Facebook pages. The book is also added to the Picture Book of the Day Pinterest board created by Mia from Pragmatic Mom.

So, who are these great bloggers involved in the project?  Let’s meet each of them!

The Bloggers Behind Picture Book of the Day

meet the bloggers behind picture book of the day

Deirde blogs at JDaniel’s4 Mom.  Deirde taught for 20 years in 2nd and 3rd grades and now stays at home with her son.  She’s recently been sharing lots of books about starting kindergarten!

Erica at What Do We Do All Day? blogs about reading, learning, eating and playing in an urban setting.  She comes up with some great lists of books!

Erica says, “I like sharing with my readers what other parents are reading to their kids.”

Carolyn from The Pleasantest Thing shares simple and fun strategies to engage your kids.  If your children are into Legos, then you will definitely want to visit her blog!

Lorie blogs at Reading Confetti.  She spent 10 years as a Reading Specialist before becoming a stay-at-home-mom.  Her blog is full of creative ideas that are always accompanied by beautiful photographs.

Lorie shares, “I like finding new books to read with my kids and being reminded of old favorites I’ve forgotten about.“

Mia at Pragmatic Mom loves children’s books.  She has some of the most unique book lists!  Mia also moderates our Picture Book of the Day Pinterest board.

Jackie Small from My Little Bookcase is also a teacher turned stay-at-home-mom.  She has an amazing blog where you will spend lots of time exploring.  I love her motto, “A love of reading starts with one special story.”

Jackies says, “With so many wonderful children’s books being published globally, PBOTD allows me to introduce to my predominately Australian audience a range of books being published in other parts of the world. It also gives me a wonderful opportunity to promote our uniquely Australian children’s literature to the world.”

Mary Kinser blogs at Sprout’s Bookshelf and is our newest member of the Picture Book of the Day team.  Mary is a librarian and mom who shares lots of books that feature diversity of all sorts.

Mary shares, “Well, I was thrilled to get on the PBOTD train this year and add some of our own library finds. All the contributors shared such great books last year that our library list grew by leaps and bounds each week! It’s so much fun to find new titles that I might never have otherwise seen (and that’s coming from a librarian who buys kids’ books all day).”

Darshana from the Flowering Minds reviews children’s books.  Her reviews are very thorough, interesting and helpful!

Jackie at Ready-Set-Read!  is also a Reading Specialist and Reading Recovery Teacher who now stays at home with her kids.  Her blog is full of books and book activities!  She also offers great reading advice for young learners.  Ready-Set-Read! and Growing Book by Book blogs both have a lot in common!

Erin from Royal Baloo is a home-schooling mom of three boys.  She shares fun and easy teaching ideas that she uses with her kids.  If you look under the series tab on her blog, you will find a fun Zoomin Movin Alphabet series of printables!

Jacquie from KC Edventures never ceases to inspire me.  I’ve been following her for quite awhile and love everything she does!  Jacquie is an educator and mom who is always seeking out “edventures” for kids.  She just recently started co-hosting a Discover and Explore Linky where you will find new themed activities every two weeks.

Renee blogs at Mother and Daughter Book Reviews.  This mother, daughter and now son team reviews books on their blog.  It’s so neat to see the different perspectives of each family member about the books they read!

Then, there is me- Jodie from Growing Book by Book.  I’m passionate about literacy development in young children.  I have a background in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  I now stay home with my two boys.  You can read all about me here!

Jennifer at The Good Long Road is both a stay-at-home mom and a work-at-home mom where she also runs a production company with her husband.  She always comes up with such clever ideas.

Leah from Simple.Home.Blessings. blogs about everything homemaking!  You will find advice on child-rearing, meal plans, etc. on her blog.

Quite a talented group of women I would say!

    Hello,

How does one have their picture book considered for Picture Book of the Day? Our book, The Birthday Triplets: Granny Rosie’s Amazing, Magical Day was recently released on Amazon. The Birthday Triplets, Candi, Cookie, and Coco, bring parties to those who are alone or sad on their birthdays.

    Best,
    Kelly
