One of my favorite children's authors. Mr. Teague did not disappoint! I purchased this for my 2 year old grandson that "loves" fire trucks , dogs, and kittens. It is now his favorite board book.

This is the 1st of the Story book series I've purchased and it assists in opening up discussion and giving thought.

Lost the first book, but enjoy it enough that I ordered a new one! My family loves Mark Teague books; his illustrations are vibrant, but not cluttered, and offer great viewpoints / snapshots in time. The story itself is a little weak, not as fun and imaginative as "Dear Mrs. La Rue: Letters From Obedience School," but my 4-year old son requests it often.

I saw this book at my local Barnes and Nobles and had to get it, Amazon is my preferred book site so I purchased it here. It is an adorable story, well written and this is coming from a Firefighter EMT who knows the topic and enjoyed the contents. I especially loved the female fire chief!

I have to admit that I'm frequently disappointed when I crack open a new children's book to find bland or less-than-detailed drawings gracing the pages. Sure, I'll remind myself that the book is primarily for the kid's entertainment, not mine, and more often than not he'll find those "blah" drawings good enough to hold his attention.

Not so with FIREHOUSE. These drawings POP. Bright colors, crisp definition, expressive faces, subtle detail, and SUPERB perspectives. Wow! (Just a quick glance at that fire truck on the front cover and you've got the sense of speed and urgency -- this is repeated through the book. There's enough here to spend minutes on each page soaking in the detail and talking about everything that's happening.

The main character is a somewhat spastic little French Bulldog, and a second fire brigade of mice dot the illustrations mimicking the first-line dalmatians. And many of you will be happy to note that the Fire Chief is a woman (not that you can easily tell, as she looks like the other dalmatians without exaggerated lipstick, eyelashes or body parts).

If there's only one knock against the story, it's the rather odd and sudden ending. But than again, the whole story is rather odd and sudden, and our 2-year old certainly hasn't complained.

Capa dura, folhas normais, daquelas mais brilhosas. A história é boa, já li várias vezes pra meu filho. Tem umas dicas pra guiar o pai na leitura. Compraria tranquilamente outros livros da série.
