Review
"Novel and funny… A deceptively simple story that packs a subtle message about sharing and altruism. A thoroughly engaging read that is sure to be a hit at storytime." ― School Library Journal

Nothing like a bit of anthropomorphic projection but by the end of Morag’s first sentence the “I am Bat, Bat is me” vibes were ripe and here to stay for the duration.
I, an obsessive foodie who, like Joey Tribiani, ‘DOESN'T SHARE FOOD’ can relate so much to Bat throughout its food ‘journey’.
The humour in this picture book is top notch.
The illustrations convey SUCH emotion it is beyond explanation. Honestly, the scowl is SPOT ON!
There is a deeper message about greed, hoarding, sharing and the fleeting absurdity of obsession but in such an accessible way that you can have child friendly discussions without it being too heavy and losing its laughs.
Gorgeously coloured, bright bold end pages hug the story in joy and a hilarious bonus recipe at the back.
Dare I say it- this Witch’s Kitchen might be making homemade cherry pies, possibly spoiler alert, even poached pears in Bat’s honour this weekend!
I AM BAT will absolutely be making its way to the highest accolade of being put on ‘THE SHELF’ & out to loved ones this spooky season too.
Thank you Morag!
