There are many illustrated versions of the story.  One of my favorites Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Jan Brett. Goldilocks enters the house of the bears where she tries their porridge, chairs, and beds.  The bears return to find her in the house and their things in disarray.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Activity

This coverall activity can be played with 1 to 6 students making it an ideal small group activity.

Skills: Students will be working on vocabulary as well as beginning sounds during play.

Materials Needed: Printable game board for each student (see below) and small tokens (buttons, raisins, counters, etc.) to use as playing pieces.

Set Up: Gather your tokens and print the game boards.  Laminate for durability if desired.

Play: Call the beginning sound for each word. Cross out the word on the call sheet when you say the sound. Have the kids cover the picture of the object that begins with that sound.

Cover four spots in a row or the four corners to win. Or, you can play a coverall for everyone to win.

Variations/Modifications:

-Review each picture on the board to build vocabulary before beginning to play.

-If students aren’t ready for beginning sounds, use the game as a vocabulary-building exercise instead.  Call out a word and have the students cover the word called.
