Growing Book by Book turns 1 today!  It has been a fun year learning about blogging and connecting with so many new people in the process.

Very 1st Post

My very first post was an introduction to the blog.  On August 22, 2011, the first literacy post appeared called 33 Back to Schools.  That post featured a great back to school book especially for new kindergarteners called, The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.

First Year Stats

Growing Book by Book has had slow, but steady growth this year.  Currently, there are about 200 “likes” on facebook,  400 Pinterest followers and about 120 email and feed subscribers.  I’m hoping to connect with many more people this year!

I guest posted on Playdough to Plato and Playing with Words 365.  Several other wonderful blogs showcased some of my posts.  In addition, my wonderful readers voted Growing Book by Book as one of the Circle of Moms- Top 25 Blogs.

#1 Post of the Year

By far, the top post of the first year was Muffin Tin Reading Games.  Four fun and easy to prepare games were shared for building literacy skills.  It’s definitely worth checking out if you missed it.

One Thing I Hope to Learn This Year

One of my top goals for the blog this year is to learn how to take better pictures for my posts.  I love to visit blogs that have fantastic pictures.  I have a lot of work to do in this area.

One Closing Thought

I want to thank all you for reading this blog each week.  It’s so rewarding to know that I’m inspiring others to nurture our youngest readers.  I look forward to sharing lots of great literacy ideas with you in the future.  If you have ideas about what you would like to see on the blog, please contact me and let me know your ideas.

Best wishes,

Jodie
