I am so excited to announce that I have created a set of printable book based activity calendars for you to use this school year!  The calendars are full of book suggestions and fun activities to do as a family.

2015-2016 Book Based Activity Calendars

They are perfect for:

  • teachers to send home as monthly homework calendars.
  • librarians to pass out to patrons.
  • families who want to enjoy great books and do simple themed activities at home.

The set includes 9 calendars (September 2015- May 2016) and 9 resources sheets.  Hang the calendar on the refrigerator each month and take the resource sheet with you to the library to gather the books for the month.  The resource sheets also include links to activities.

The calendars are perfect for families with preschoolers through grade 2!

Each week a theme is introduced with a wonderful children’s book. If you can’t find the main title, there are two alternative book ideas each week.  Then, there are 5 easy to do activities included with each theme.  Activities include literacy, math, art, science and character education ideas.  You can choose to do as many as you want to fit your family’s schedule.

One of 9 calendars in the book themed calendars .

Here is a look at just one week of the September calendar.

Theme:  apples

Featured book:  Apple Farmer Annie by Monica Wellington

Alternate books: The Apple Pie that Papa Baked by Lauren Thompson or Apple Pie ABC by Alison Murray

Suggested activities:

  • Cut an apple horizontally  and notice what you see inside. (hint: a star)

  • Cut an apple in half and use to stamp patterns with paint.

  • Taste test 3 colors of apples & tally the results.

  • Make a list of all the descriptive words that could describe an apple.

  • Make apple nachos for dessert.  Slice apples  & drizzle with melted peanut butter.

I don’t use pay Pal and was wondering if I could order and pay for your calendar another way?

Hi Aly, you can also purchase through Teacher Pay Teachers (TPT). You do have to create an account there to order, but you can pay via credit card with that option. Hope that helps.
      Best,
      Jodie

      Terri,

I wanted to let you know that I have avoided Paypal due to big issues in the past with them when we were members. I finally bit the bullet when I wanted to purchase something that was only attainable through Paypal. I go in as a guest and pay and do not sign up for an account. It has served me well this way. It is a one time payment and we haven’t had issues. Just wanted to share. 🙂

I don’t use the program that you have for paying you. Is there another way I can pay you?
I am a SLP working for EPIC Health Services. I love your calendars.

    Thank you, Sharon Johnson
