An author reading their picture book aloud brings an extra dimension to experiencing a story. Often, authors will share background information about how the story came to be, little Easter eggs to look for in the book, or other insights. Thanks to the digital age we live in, we can hear many authors read their books aloud via video. Today, I bring you author read-aloud videos you will want to watch.
Books for Kids Read by Authors

I should preface all of this with the fact that I don’t think watching videos could or should replace reading aloud in person. Sharing a book alongside a child and having a back-and-forth conversation about the book is vital and shouldn’t be completely replaced with a screen.
But…
One of the reasons I love to share author read-alouds is for children to see the creators behind the books. I want them to see that real people just like them make books and inspire them to do the same.
Many authors and illustrators have websites and social media accounts. A quick Google search of your favorite creator will often take you to their sites and often read-alouds. Another good spot to check are publisher accounts. Here are just some to get you started.
