Bear is asleep for the winter while his cave is filling up with other creatures looking for shelter from the cold. While they wait, they prepare a little party. All the time, Bear snores on. When Bear awakes, he’s in for a surprise but feels like he has missed out on the fun.

Bear Snores On Activities
What Is In the Cave?
Skill Focus: Alphabet Recognition and Sound/Letter Correspondence
Materials Needed: magnetic letters, brown construction paper or small paper bag, scissors, glue stick, and an empty tissue box
Preparation: Cut a cave shape from construction paper and attach to the front of the tissue box leaving the opening of the tissue box as the cave opening. Fill the box with magnetic letters.
Time to Play: Tell the students that they get to reach into the cave or lair and pull out a letter.
When the letter is retrieved, they should name it and announce the sound the letter represents.
Extend by having the students name something that begins with that letter sound.
