After taking a summer break, Picture Book of the Day is returning on September 1st!  Each day (Monday-Friday) on my Growing Book by Book Facebook page, I share posts about great books for kids.

I’m excited to announce that the great group of bloggers who recommend books is growing to 20 this season.  Today, I thought I’d share a behind the scenes look at Picture Book of the Day and introduce you to the 20 talented bloggers who make this project happen!

20 great bloggers to follow who love books for kids!

Picture Book of the Day was created by Bethany from No Twiddle Twaddle. Not only did she come up with the idea but, she also assembled a great group of people to work together on the project.  Last year, Bethany asked me to take over for her and I was thrilled to carry the torch. Each day, a different blogger selects a high-quality picture book to showcase.  All the participating bloggers then share the recommendation on their Facebook pages.

So, who are these great bloggers involved in the project?  Let’s meet each of them!  Those names with a * in front of them are new to Picture Book of the Day this season.

Behind the Books for Kids at Picture Book of the Day

The Bloggers

Deirde blogs at JDaniel’s4 Mom.  Deirde taught for 20 years in 2nd and 3rd grades and now stays at home with her son.  She shares some great book choices and lots of activities including this balancing turtle science idea.

Stephanie is the talent behind Boy Mama Teacher Mama.  Check out her review of Tiny Little Fly and follow up activity.

Tracy from School 4 Boys is a good friend and is a super knowledgeable about children’s literature.  Check out this beautiful post about Dads reading to kids.

*Vanessa blogs at the super popular Pre K Pages.  She is an educator with a degree in elementary education with an emphasis in early childhood and language arts.   Check out her Where is Pete the Cat activity.

Mia at Pragmatic Mom loves children’s books.  She has some of the most unique book lists!  Check out this truck book list.  Mia also moderates our Picture Book of the Day Pinterest board.

Natalie at Planet for Smarty Pants comes up with some great reading suggestions.  You will want to see this post that compliments the book Leaf Man which is one of my favorite Fall books.

Mary Kinser blogs at Sprout’s Bookshelf.  Mary is a librarian and mom who shares lots of books that feature diversity of all sorts.  One of her family’s favorite books is Nino Wrestles the World.

Darshana from the Flowering Minds reviews children’s books.  Her reviews are very thorough, interesting and helpful! Check out her kindergarten book list.

Jackie at Ready-Set-Read!  is also a Reading Specialist and mom.  Her blog is full of books and book activities!  She also offers great reading advice for young learners.  Ready-Set-Read! and Growing Book by Book blogs have a lot in common!  Visit her post about The Very Lonely Firefly.

*Emma blogs at P is for Preschooler which is a wealth of resources for little ones.  If you have a little one starting kindergarten, you will want to check out this book list for soon to be kindergarteners.

Jacquie from KC Edventures never ceases to inspire me.  I’ve been following her for quite awhile and love everything she does!  Jacquie is an educator and mom who is always seeking out “edventures” for kids.  Her vintage seasonal book lists are just too cool!

Renee blogs at Mother and Daughter Book Reviews.  This mother, daughter and now son team reviews books on their blog.  It’s so neat to see the different perspectives of each family member about the books they read!  Visit their post about A Bad Case of Stripes.

Then, there is me- Jodie from Growing Book by Book.  I’m passionate about literacy development in young children.  I have a background in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  I now stay home with my two boys.  You can read all about me here!

Jennifer at The Good Long Road is both a stay-at-home mom and a work-at-home mom where she also runs a production company with her husband.  She always comes up with such clever ideas.  Check out her post about an interesting Arctic animal book.

MaryAnne from Mama Smiles:Joyful Parenting has a beautiful and inspirational blog.  Check out her list of books that kindergarteners will love.

*Becky at Kid World Citizen will bring great multicultural books to the mix.  She happens to be an author herself!  I just love this list of books that take you around the world.

*Katie blogs at Story Time Secrets.  She is a former librarian.  Don’t miss her baby story time book recommendations.

*Reshama from Stacking Books shares some amazing books on her blog.  I can’t wait to check out Soccer Star.  The illustrations look great.

*Leanna blogs at All Done Monkey.   She also always has great multicultural titles to share.  Check out her resource for bilingual art books.

*Ann is from Doodles and Jots   I have to get my hands on the book Breathe that she recommends in her Whale Printable and Book post.

Quite a talented group of women I would say!
