Do you love to eat, read, and spend time with your family?  That is what Family Dinner Book Club is all about.  This month, Family Dinner Book Club  features A Chair For My Mother by Vera B. Williams.

Before we get to all the yummy details, we have a special announcement about the 2017 Family Dinner Book Club.  Next year, we are traveling the world!  Around the World Family Dinner Book Club will transport families to different countries through books and cuisine.  Our 2017 line-up will be next month.

Family Service Project

Losing all your possessions and your home in a fire is a difficult time for families.  This month collect money in a jar (see Laura’s table craft  below for a jar idea).  This could be loose change from around the house or money earned from doing extra chores.  At the end of the month, donate the collected funds to an agency that helps families who have suffered loss through a fire such as the American Red Cross.

October is Fire Prevention Month so take time to talk about fire safety with your family.  You can even practice an escape route if a fire would ever strike at your home.
