Family Service Project
Losing all your possessions and your home in a fire is a difficult time for families. This month collect money in a jar (see Laura’s table craft below for a jar idea). This could be loose change from around the house or money earned from doing extra chores. At the end of the month, donate the collected funds to an agency that helps families who have suffered loss through a fire such as the American Red Cross.
October is Fire Prevention Month so take time to talk about fire safety with your family. You can even practice an escape route if a fire would ever strike at your home.

I love the idea of saving money as a family like they do in this book. It would be a great lesson for our girls who just recently started earning allowance!
