Growing Book by Book turns 2 today!  I’ve had so much fun connecting with all of you, fellow bloggers, authors and publishers.  Time to give some updates, shout-outs and announcements.  AND, to celebrate turning 2, I have a fun giveaway for you too!

Big Thank You

There have been so many wonderful people who have helped Growing Book by Book grow this year.  I’m so grateful to all who have helped me learn and grow.

Kid Blogger Network-  KBN has helped me to connect with other kid bloggers.  I truly don’t know how I made it through my first year before finding this amazing group of bloggers.  I learn something new every week from this Facebook group.

Fellow Bloggers-  I had the opportunity to guest post on some great blogs this year.  A big thank you to I Can Teach My Child (teaching kids how to treat books),  Make and Takes (The Thankful Book and Thanksgiving placemats), Let’s Lasso the Moon (gratitude journals), Living Life Intentionally (A Day in a Life of Another Mom’s Life Series), Emergent Literacy (reading outside), Carrots Are Orange (cooking with kids), The Usual Mayhem (mud literacy activities) and The Family Dinner Project (literacy benefits of dinner conversations) for allowing me to guest post on their fantastic blogs.

My Editor (and biggest cheerleader)- We all know that sleep-deprived moms can often make mistakes and not think clearly!  Since I have children who don’t sleep through the night, I fall into this category.  My editor, my mom, reads every one of my posts to check for clarity and grammatical errors.  She is a life-saver!

Second Year Stats

Growing Book by Book continues to grow!  Our Facebook page grew by 1,000 “Likes” this year.  Have you clicked the “like” button?  Please head here and check!  We have some great conversations each day on Facebook about literacy and I also share lots of links to reading, writing and communicating ideas.

I love Pinterest!  I spend way too much time on Pinterest, but I get so many good ideas I just can’t stay away.  Pinterest is the biggest referrer to my blog and I am so truly grateful.   This past year, my page went from 400 followers to over 2,500 followers.  Come and follow along with one or all of my 44 boards.  Here are a few of my most popular boards related to literacy.

There’s a Book About That–  This is a newer and extremely popular board where you’ll find lots of book lists on different topics and themes.

Email and feed subscribers continue to grow.  When Google Reader went away, I ended up switching over to Bloglovin to follow all of my favorite blogs.  It’s a super handy way to keep up with all the great things going on.  Would you like to follow Growing Book by Book by feed or email?  Check out the icon buttons in the top right corner of this page!

Top 2 Posts of the Year

By far, the top post in the history of Growing Book by Book was Muffin Tin Reading Games.  Four fun and easy to prepare games were shared for building literacy skills.  It’s definitely worth checking out if you missed it.

The second most popular post was a collaborative blogging project I did with over 50 other bloggers.  Booking Across the USA showcases 50 books and projects from each of the 50 states.

I can’t wait to see which posts are at the top next year.
