Just to review a bit… Family Dinner Book Club is a monthly book club for your family. On the 15th of each month, we share the title of the book that is being featured. Then, on the 1st of each month we provide all the details for your special club dinner. Sarah from Daisy at Home shares a special menu to compliment the book. And, I will share conversation starters and a service project for your family. Sarah and I will take turns showcasing table decoration crafts to make with the kids.
We invite you to share a picture from your dinner with us anytime during the month on our Family Dinner Book Club Facebook page.
Now, on to all of the details!

Topics
Here are six conversation starters to get your dinner book club rolling. Just click on this link (If Kids Ran the World conversation starters) for a one page PDF file that you can print and then cut apart. Use the cards on your chosen dinner night. You, of course, don’t have to use all of them or you may even have some other discussion points that developed while you were reading. These are just meant to be a guide. Happy talking!
- How have you or your friends helped make the world a better place?
- If you could change one thing in the world to make it better, what would you choose?
- Name something that you are thankful for happening today.
- Tell about a time when you chose to forgive someone.
- What is one thing that you love most about your family?
- Tell one thing that made you laugh today.
Family Service Project
There are so many wonderful opportunities for a family service project to compliment this book. You might choose to make a piece of art work, card or other craft to take to a senior living home for elders. Hold a craft night and have each family member make a piece of art. Schedule a day to drop off the goodies at a local senior home.
Table Decorations
I’m all about easy for table decorations. White is a symbol of peace. Create a centerpiece of white candles of varying heights. It’s not often that we eat by candlelight! During dinner talk about the color white representing peace.
You can also create placemats by weaving paper strips. Use blue and green to represent the Earth’s water and land.
