Grab a few books to read about the New Year. What Do We Do All Day? has created a great list of books. [easyazon_link identifier=”0807575917″ locale=”US” tag=”groboobyboo-20″]Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution[/easyazon_link] by Pat Miller was a fun read for us and is a great one to read to talk about setting resolutions.
#2 Make a Book of Wishes
Make and Takes shows us how to make a simple accordion book to hold our wishes for the new year.
#3 Word of the Year
I love this idea of word of the year from Nurturestore. It’s a great way to get kids to think about words and choose the just right word to represent a goal they have for the year. FYI, my word for the new year is CONNECT. See below on an easy way to connect with me!
#4 Play a Word Game
Here is a fun game to play while you wait for the clock to strike midnight. Teach Mama shares free printable cards that are holiday themed. Players have to give clues to guess the word.
If you need another word game that would be fun to play, get [easyazon_link identifier=”B00112CHD4″ locale=”US” tag=”groboobyboo-20″]Apples to Apples Jr[/easyazon_link]. It’s my favorite!
#5 Make a Wishing Wall
I love this idea from Buggy and Buddy. Create a wishing wall for the family to plan for the new year.
#6 Sing Songs
Every party needs some music. Try a few of these New Year’s songs from JDaniel4’s Mom.
#7 Create a Time Capsule
Lots of reflecting, drawing and writing needed to put together this time capsule as a family. Imagination Tree shows us how to put it together.
