Just to review a bit… Family Dinner Book Club is a monthly book club for your family. On the 15th of each month, we share the title of the book that is being featured.
Then, on the 1st of each month we provide all the details for your special club dinner. Sarah from Daisy at Home shares a special menu to compliment the book. And, I will share conversation starters and a service project for your family. Sarah and I will take turns showcasing table decoration crafts to make with the kids.
We invite you to share a picture from your dinner with us anytime during the month on our Family Dinner Book Club Facebook page.
Now, on to all of the details!

[easyazon_link identifier=”0152052607″ locale=”US” tag=”groboobyboo-20″]The Hundred Dresses[/easyazon_link] by Eleanor Estes is the story of a young girl who tells her classmates that she has 100 dresses in her closet. Yet, she wears the same dress every day. The kids begin to tease her at school. From there, lots of lessons are learned.
Topics
Here are six conversation starters to get your dinner book club rolling. Just click on this link (The Hundred Dresses conversation starters) for a one page PDF file that you can print and then cut apart. Use the cards on your chosen dinner night. You, of course, don’t have to use all of them or you may even have some other discussion points that developed while you were reading. These are just meant to be a guide. Happy talking!
- Why did Wanda tell her classmates she had one hundred dresses in her closet?
- What is discrimination?
- How do you think it feels to be teased?
- How should we treat others?
- What should we do if we see someone being teased or bullied?
- What do you think Wanda’s life will be like in a new town?
Family Service Project
The more we know about someone the less likely we are to treat them unkindly. This month invite a new family from your community or church over for dinner. Spend time talking and getting to know each other.

This is awesome! I love that it can incorporate the entire family. For me it is easy to find projects for my daughter and I, but not as often ones that include my husband or that he would be interested in. Such a great idea! Thank you for sharing with #made4kids!

I love this idea! I liked your Facebook page to follow along. Two of our kids are too young for this, but I would enjoy doing this with our oldest. Thanks for sharing at Made for Kids!
