Summer is just around the corner!  And, we’ve been having lots of fun with learning the alphabet around the house.  So, I thought I’d combine the two into a summer fun project.

26 Fun Summer Reading Ideas with books and activities!

Our ABC Summer Reading Fun is a version of the summer bucket lists that you may have seen on Pinterest.  I took each letter of the alphabet and created a fun activity to match the letter.  I recycled summer color paint samples that my mom had leftover. Even the names of the colors fit the season- “Summer Dance”, “Lemon Twist” and “June Day”.

Most of the summer reading ideas are free or inexpensive.  The majority are things to do around the house.  However, there are a few summer field trips included.  I also selected a book for each day that relates to the activity.

Alphabet Summer Fun, summer bucket list, ABC books and activities

Every few days we will select which letters we want to complete next.  Since letter “R” is “play in the rain,” we will obviously have to schedule that for a day that the forecast dictates.

Here is what we have lined up for the summer.

For a complete printable list of activities and the books we will use click here:  Alphabet Summer Activity and Book List

In addition to reading a story about the topic and completing the activity.  This will be a fun way for us to explore books and have fun together as a family.
