It is part 1 of 5 in our regional spotlights of the Booking Across the USA series.  We are featuring authors and illustrators from each state!

This series is a fun way to learn more about the people of each state and specifically those who have contributed to the world of children’s literature.

Southwest Region

Arizona

Child Led Life shares the brains behind Junie B Jones books as she takes a peek at the work of Barbara Park.

New Mexico

Jennifer Cervantes is the author of Tortilla Sun.  The story is a middle-grade novel about a 12 year-old girl who spends the summer with her nana in a New Mexico village where she discovers hidden secrets.

Make a batch of tortillas to eat while enjoying the book.

An interesting fact about Cervantes is that she can read and write backwards!

Oklahoma

ALLterNATIVE Learning explores the work of Stacy Nayikos .

Texas

Kid World Citizen delves into the bilingual books by Pat Mora.
