Activity #1
What’s My Ending Sound
Skills: isolating ending sounds
-Print and laminate if desired.
-Have the students spot a purple item on the sheet and name it. Repeat the word and listen for the ending sound. Isolate and identify the ending sound. Repeat with the other items.
-If students have difficulty isolating the sound on their own, they can repeat it after you.
Activity #2
Draw Me a Purple Picture
Skills: strengthening fine motor, developing creativity
-Print a copy for each student.
-Students pull out all shades of purple crayons to create a masterpiece.
Activity #3
Trace Me
Skills: strengthening fine motor, developing tracking, awareness of alliteration
-Print a copy for each student.
-Students trace the robot and balloon with a purple crayon.
-Students may also add other details to their picture.
-Practice saying the alliteration sentence noticing all the words that start with /p/.
Activity #4
Sequence the Story
Skills: sequencing
-Print, cut, and laminate if desired.
-Shuffles the strips. Have the students sequence the parts of the story in order from beginning to end. This can be done on the floor or in a pocket chart. Reference the book as needed. Add any details to the retelling.
