Frederico is on his way to visit his Abuelo when he runs into a hungry wolf Federico and the Wolf by Rebecca J. Gomez. Of course, he outwits him and celebrates with a yummy treat with his Abuelo in the end. This story is an American-Mexican variation of Little Red Riding Hood. And, it’s a delight to read. Plus, you can follow the recipe for pico de gallo.

Little Red Rhyming Hood by Sue Fliess is the story of a little girl who loves to rhyme.  Her grandmother shows her a flyer for a poetry contest.  But, when Little Red Rhyming Hood shows up, the wolf is there too.  How will things turn out?

Little Red and the Cat Who Loved Cake by Barbara Lehman is coming in late 2021. It’s mostly a wordless book with picture bubbles but has text in the images.  Little Red has baked a cake and on the way to grandma’s house to make the delivery.  But, someone who really loves cakes is trailing behind.

In Little Red Reading Hood and the Misread Wolf by Troy Wilson the wolf is eagerly waiting for Little Rea Reading Hood at grandmother’s house, but does he want to eat her? Or, does he want something else from her?

What happens when a sheep takes over in the story of Little Red Riding Hood? Well…a lot… He suggests a muskrat play the wolf and instead of eating grandma, he should invite her to a ball.  Check out Little Red Riding Sheep by Linda Ravin Lodding.

Little Red Gliding Hood by Tara Lazar takes quite the spin on the traditional tale. All the characters from your favorite stories are included, but it takes lots of twists and turns on the original story. However, it’s quite entertaining.

Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion by Alex T. Smith changes the setting from the meadow to the safari and from a wolf to a lion.  Will Little Red make it to her auntie’s house safe and sound?

Good thing Litle Red Hot makes a hot pepper pie to take to her grandmother who is feeling ill in Little Red Hot by Eric A. Kimmel.  It will come in handy when she meets up with the wolf.

Petite Rouge by Mike Artell takes us to the bayou in this Cajun spin.  Grand-mère is in need of some gumbo.  Petite Rouge Riding Hood will encounter a hungry alligator on the way to make this delivery.    You definitely need to practice reading this one aloud a few time before sharing with the kids.

Pretty Salma: A Little Red Riding Hood Story from Africa by Niki Daly is the story of Pretty Salma who is headed to the market for her granny. But, she meets a sly dog along the way.  And, before you know it the dog is headed back to granny.

Carmine a Little More Red by Melissa Sweet is about a little girl on her way to see her granny.  Through her alphabet adventure, we are introduced to a new vocabulary word on each page.  Will she make it to granny’s house without a run-in with the wolf in the woods?
