Learning those ch, th, and sh digraphs can take a bit of practice. And, practice is always more fun when it relates to a theme. So, I’ve got a valentine literacy digraph activity for the kids to use.
Grab the free printable below and work on decoding words. There is even a blank set of cards to use whatever words you want to practice whether they are digraphs or not.
Valentine Digraph Activity

Materials Needed: the free printable (see below) and a pair of scissors
Purpose: Kids will decode words containing ch, sh, and th digraphs.
Getting Ready
- Print the free printable love monster and heart cards(see below).
- Cut the hearts on the dotted lines.
Ready to Play
Time to play! Have the kids pick a heart to read. After each heart is read, the kids can place it on the love monster. Continue until all cards have been read.
Great for individual students or to use in a work center.
Differentiation
-Use any words that a child needs to work on instead of the digraphs. A blank sheet of hearts is provided.
-Call a word and have the child find the word called.
