nigel and the moon

When Nigel looks up at the moon, his world is full of possibilities. He can imagine and dream of anything. He feels confident and free. But, it’s career week at school and Nigel struggles with finding the courage to share his dreams with others. Can he tap into that courage bank?  Read Nigel and the Moon by Antwan Eady.

Book Discussion

  • At the beginning of the book, Nigel shadows his mother at work.  We aren’t told specifically through words what his mom does yet.  But, there is a clue in the illustrations and the text.  Can the students find the clue and make a prediction? ( Spot the postal truck. She’s a postal carrier.)  This is a great example of using text and illustrations in a book to understand the story.
  • Discuss the following vocabulary in the story.  Printable word cards are included in the free printable resource pack below.

  • Nigel has to find the courage to share his dreams.  Can you tell me about a time when you had to find the courage to share something with others?

Tell Your Dreams to the Moon
