Roses are red. Violets are blue. Learning the alphabet just got more cool. This Valentine ABC activity is the perfect way to build alphabet recognition with a holiday twist.
SETTING UP THE VALENTINE ABC ACTIVITY
materials needed: white heart doilies, red & pink buttons, plastic spoon, small shallow container, and a magic marker
- Decide on five or so letters that your child needs practice identifying. Randomly write the letters a few times on the doily with a marker. You can do lowercase, uppercase or a mixture of both depending on your child’s needs.
- Place the buttons in the shallow container and place a spoon near the buttons.
PLAYING THE VALENTINE ABC ACTIVITY
It’s time to play. Call out a letter to your child and have him or her scoop out a button to place on each letter. Continue to play until all letters have been covered. Clear the heart and play again or make another heart with new letters.
